The D'Angelo Young Artist Vocal Competition offers a 1st prize of $5,000 cash plus a role in an Opera Tampa production in an up-coming Opera Tampa season, 2nd prize of $2,500 cash, 3rd prize of $1,000 cash and an audience favorite award of $500 cash. The prizes will be awarded on the day of the competition.
Applicants must be aged 20-35, and be United States citizens actively pursuing a career in opera performance. Applicants must provide two references and submit a recent (no more than 2 years old at the time of submission) video recording with two contrasting arias.
Please note: The quality of your recordings will most likely affect the prospects of being selected.
Applications must be submitted no later than Dec. 15, 2023. Applicants will be notified of acceptance, standby or non-acceptance no later than Dec. 29, 2023. Application fee is $35.
The required repertoire for the competition is four differently-styled arias sung in at least three different languages. One zarzuela may be included. In addition, please also include one German, Russian or French art song.

In the email, list four operatic arias of contrasting styles, in at least three languages, that you will be prepared to sing at your audition. Arias must be sung in the original language and key. No oratorio, concert arias, or musical theater permitted. One zarzuela may be submitted. No punctuation is required. In addition, please include one German, Russian or French art song.
Let us know if you will use the provided pianist.
