• What kind of safety measures are you taking in response to the COVID-19 pandemic?

  We have worked under advisement with Tampa General Hospital to implement a number of safety and hygiene measures. We are proud to have received TGH’s Infection Prevention seal of approval. You can find more information about this program, visit TGH.org/TPRO.

• How do I register?

  You can register online at https://patelconservatory.asapconnected.com/, by calling 813-222-1040 or by emailing admissions@strazcenter.org. Tuition may be paid in full for the year or by the month (school-year only). Monthly tuition must be paid by pre-authorized debit from a bank account or credit card at time of registration.

• Where are classes held?

  Most classes are held here at the Conservatory. Check the class descriptions on our website for details.

• Can I try a class prior to registering?

  Yes! Please contact admissions@strazcenter.org to schedule your Pass-to-Class. Each student is entitled to try one class free of charge prior to enrolling. Pass-to-Class must be confirmed in advance of the class and is dependent on class size and available capacity.

• What happens if a class is full?

  Each class is assigned a maximum capacity to ensure quality instruction and safe distancing. Once the class is full, a waiting list may be started. Occasionally we may open another section but are limited by available classroom space. It is best to register early.

• What do I need before the first class?

  You need to have all release forms completed. If registering online, you will be prompted to sign digitally. Confirm with Admissions if you are unsure. You will need to arrive no earlier than 15 mins prior to your scheduled class. A face mask is encouraged, but not required. Your instructor or department will communicate any other specifics, i.e. shoes required, color of leotard, materials to bring to class.

• How do I apply for financial aid?

• If I apply for financial aid for the fall, do I have to reapply for the spring or summer?

  Families interested in financial aid must apply for the school year and again the summer, if applicable. Please resubmit an application if your financial situation changes. Notify the Admissions Office if your class/camp selections have changed.

• Do you offer payment plans?

  We offer payment plans for school year tuition only. The tuition balance is spread evenly over the remaining months and is charged to a credit card on the 20th of each month. We do not offer payment plans for summer camps or fees. All tuition and fees are non-refundable. 

• Is there a registration fee?

  There is a required $35 registration fee per student, which is due at the time of registration along with the first tuition payment. The registration fee is waived for all Straz Center annual donors of $100 or more.

• What does “ongoing enrollment” mean?

  We accept new students throughout the year. Instructor approval may be required to join mid-session. Students joining mid-session should be aware that they are joining classes in-progress. 

• How do I drop a class?

  To drop a class, you will need to complete a drop form. Once this form is submitted, a student will be dropped from a class and their monthly withdrawals will be stopped. These forms are due by the 10th of the month in order to ensure that you will not get charged the next month's tuition. (For example, November’s tuition would be deducted on Oct. 20, so the drop form would be due by Oct. 10.)

• What number do I call if I need to get a message to my child during class?

  Call the Patel Conservatory security desk at 813.222.1270 or the Straz Center security desk at 813.222.1070 and ask for a Conservatory staff member.

• Where do I pick up and drop off my child?

  NGB Trainees, Homeschool students and those with private lessons before 3:00pm will enter through the Patel Conservatory doors (with the treble clef handle). All other students will enter and exit through the TECO Doors.

• Can I go into my child’s class or watch from outside the door?

  Only staff and registered students are permitted inside the Patel Conservatory. Parents and siblings are not permitted.

• Where can I find something to eat?

  We encourage students to have a healthy meal before arriving.
