Patel Conservatory Popular Dance (PCPD)

Directed by Philip Neal, the Popular Dance program is a serious structured program preparing dancers in grades K through 12 for popular dance opportunities in areas such as Broadway, Television, Industrials, Cruise Ships, Theme Parks and Las Vegas.

The Popular Dance program is a serious structured program preparing dancers in grades K through 12 for popular dance opportunities in areas such as Broadway, Television, Industrials, Cruise Ships, Theme Parks and Las Vegas. The program consists of three divisions: PCPD Enrollment Division, PCPD Pre-Professional Division, PCPD/PCYB Hybrid Program.

PCPD Enrollment Division

Children are placed by age. The classes that make up the Enrollment Division are Tap Dance 1, Ages 5-7, Tap Dance 2, Ages 8-10, Tap Dance 3, Ages 10-12, Tap Dance 4, Ages 11-13, Beginning Jazz Ages 7-11.

How to Register – Students that meet the grade requirement for the enrollment division classes may sign up through the registration office without going through the dance office.

Fees – Non Refundable Registration Fee, Recital Fee and Yearly Tuition Fee.
 

PCPD Pre-Professional Division

Students are placed by ability. The classes that make up the Pre-Professional Division are Intermediate Contemporary, Advanced Contemporary, Intermediate Just for Kicks, Inter/Adv Just for Kicks, Advanced Just for Kicks, Accelerated Jazz and Trainee A1 Tap.

How to Register – Students interested in the Pre-Professional Division must attend a placement class or receive acceptance by the artistic staff. Placements are scheduled through the dance department by calling 813-222-1079 or by emailing danceprogram@strazcenter.org

• Contemporary, Inter/Adv Just For Kicks, Advanced Just For Kicks, Accelerated Jazz, Show Team: On The Edge (Morsani Hall)

• Intermediate Just For Kicks: Breakin’ Out (Ferguson Hall)

PCPD/PCYB Hybrid Program

For advanced dance students whose academic responsibilities require specialized schedules.
